Vicuña - the epitome of luxury

Vicuñas - also known as small camels - live in the South American Andes at an altitude of up to 5000 meters. There they develop a coat that defies the extremely cool climate and whose fineness is unmatched by any other animal. The vicuña population is estimated at only around 270,000 animals worldwide. Similar to Icelandic eiderdown, only the fine undercoat is used. This means that the "harvest" is extremely small, making vicuña wool an extremely rare and valuable product. It is one of the rarest precious hairs in the world.
