Camel hair
Camel hair:
Camel hair comes mainly from Mongolia and China and is kept by nomads. Every year, camels shed their hair, which the nomads then collect.
Camels have different types of hair in their structure. The top coat (awns) is coarse and straight. The undercoat (down) is particularly fine, curly and ensures temperature equalization, warmth and moisture removal. The top and undercoat hairs are separated and recycled in an elaborate cleaning process.
The fine, soft fluff is used to make high-quality blankets under which you neither sweat nor freeze.
The particularly good temperature-regulating properties of camel hair down are due to the animals' perfect adaptation to the strongly fluctuating temperatures in the desert.
